Increase in motorvehicle crime |
||
|
Dear residents of Grove Park,
We have seen a recent increase in motor vehicle crime in the Grove park area. This includes mostly theft from motor vehicles, but we have also seen some vehicles being stolen. Thieves are using devices that can unlock and start these vehicles within seconds (Faraday pouches do not work against this method of attack).
The below vehicles seem to be the most targeted make of cars: • Mitsubishi Outlander • Nissan Nevara • Kia Sportage • Kia Niro • Hyundai Ionic • Hyundai Tucson • Lexus LX/RX/UX models • Toyota Rav 4
The best way to keep your vehicle safe is with an additional security feature/s such as :- • A full face, secured by design approved (SBD / Sold secure) steering lock such as Disklok. • Immobiliser such as Ghost2 • Driveway post (preferably sunken / retractable) • Wheel clamp Tracker devices can also be purchased from as little as £30 (Apple Airtag), to more expensive Thatcham approved devices.
Please make sure you are taking the time to lock your vehicle, and utilising CCTV/ ring door bells and doing what you can to keep your vehicle safe. If you see any suspicious behaviour, such as people trying door handles or looking into vehicles, please report this either online or by calling 101.
